In the second volume of Lulu's Library, Alcott returns to the whimsical, ethereal style that first launched her career. These "Flower Fables" invite young readers to witness the "The Frost-King's" icy realm and join "Lilybell and Thistledown" on their delicate adventures. As the stories personify the natural world, they remain rooted in the ideal of stories that clothe great ideas in beautiful, descriptive language.
Whether following "Ripple, the Water Sprite" or attending the royal court in "Queen Aster," children are treated to Alcott's signature warmth and poetic observation. This collection is a feast for the vocabulary and a tutorial in empathy, making it a staple for any home library dedicated to the cultivation of a noble and imaginative character.
