One side of this illustrated map depicts the Thames and its estuary, where the story begins. The other side follows Marlow's journey up the Congo River--the very river where Conrad once worked and which inspired his novella. There's also a map showing the colonization of Africa from 1880 to 1914.
Martin Thelander works as an illustrator and has a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Royal Institute of Arts in Stockholm. In 2003, Martin Thelander founded Paris Grafik, with a focus on map illustrations, and has since been creating maps and information design for various publishing houses, news agencies, etc. Paris Grafik also publishes literary maps for classic books. Martin Thelander lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden.
