From manger to empty tomb and beyond, Smyth tells the Life of Christ with a storyteller's cadence and a teacher's care. The contents themselves map the pilgrimage: "How Jesus Came," "His Boyhood in Nazareth," "The Baptism," "How Jesus Fought His Great Battle," "The Wedding in Cana," "Harvest Festival in Jerusalem," "Gethsemane," "Suffered Under Pontius Pilate," "On the Cross," "The Saturday Before Easter," "The Forty Days," "Good-bye"-each lesson brief enough for a single sitting. Along the way, children and adults alike see courage, mercy, justice, and steadfast love take shape in real places and moments.
By the final chapters, the story's unity stands out: deliverance leading into worship, sorrow blossoming into hope. Expect a surer grasp of the Gospel's heart and habits that outlast the cover-attentive reading, hopeful perseverance, and the steady practice of choosing the good.
